Winning Christmas

How do you win Christmas?
Xmas Tree

It's easy really, all you have to do is: Cook the best Christmas dinner any person could ever cook. Buy the best presents in the world and have your family crying with joy into their eggnog because of your spot on buying choices. Have the most tasteful Christmas decorations both inside and outside your house. Not gain an ounce of weight and stuff your face on al the Xmas fayre going for the whole season.

That is how you win Christmas, my friends.

English: Christmas bauble Italiano: Pallina di...
Sadly, I will not be winning Christmas. I won't even come close. I have already started to gain Xmas weight and I've only had one mince pie to my name. I have not done any Christmas shopping and I haven't got a clue what to get for anyone - and I'm on a budget. My Christmas dinner is really just my Sunday roast, only bigger and with more alcohol and I've used the same Christmas decorations on my artificial tree for the ninth year in a row.

But, one thing I do know, is that by this time next year, I will have written my very first Christmas novel. And the reason I know this is because the idea for the story came to me as I stood contemplating Christmas puddings versus Christmas cake.

My Xmas novel came to me in a flash of currants and brandy sauce and I jotted down the opening chapter. (It has nothing to do with food). I'm very excited about the story, more so than my current Xmas dilemmas. In the new year I get down to fleshing out the story, but for now ... it's time for another mince pie!

  1. Love this post Rosa! Can't wait to hear about your Christmas novel!

    1. Thanks Petra. Looking forward to writing the Christmas novel, too!
